FAITH Spiritual Architecture

This title includes wide variety of recent religious building projects. Featured buildings are shown with plans, colour photographs and text. Temples, churches, mosques, synagogues, and pyramids - all are examples of one of the most ancient forms of architecture, the religious building. The challenge of designing a religious building is to find the balance between glorifying the deity or deities celebrated and providing a path for the worshipper to connect with the divine presence. This book presents a selection of recent projects, showing that while the most famous examples may be venerable and storied, religion continues to capture the imagination of architects, designers and other creative types. The examples here also demonstrate religion's seemingly endless capacity to reflect and adapt to changing times.
